Personal Power
It is so safe for you to be powerful.
In whichever way that looks to you,
For it is different for everyone.
There is no hierarchy here,
Only difference.
We are conditioned to believe that some are more powerful than others,
That a particular job title or position makes someone better
Than another with a different job title or position
This is all a big
Illusion.
Because we are all bringers of light
All infinitely powerful
In infinitely different ways
That are each equally
Beautiful.
Know that it is safe to express your power
And know that the time to do so is now,
For your light is needed at this time.

I wasn’t expecting a poem to come out just now but it did. Funny how that can happen! While running today I was reflecting on my own relationship with personal power. Oftentimes in my life, I have been scared to be powerful. I have only felt safe expressing power in ways that are celebrated or deemed acceptable by society. I have been “powerful” but in ways that were not completely authentic. I have modified myself to try and fit in as best I can with whichever situations, friends, workplaces, etc. I found myself a part of.
It can be terrifying to remove those limits and step into true, authentic power. It can provoke all sorts of reactions from others, from fear and anger to jealousy and envy. It can be unpleasant to be on the receiving end of these projections from others around you. But what I know for sure is that love is always stronger than fear. And that the love you will feel for yourself, for others in your life, and for the whole world, when you decide to step into your personal power, will far outweigh any negative reactions that may come your way.
Human Design has helped me to pinpoint the ways I am powerful. That is what I love about it: Human Design is completely strengths-based, showing us our differences objectively. Any judgements we place on these differences are our own. The more we know about our true natures, and the more we accept ourselves for who we truly are, the more beautiful and wondrous life will become. We all have the potential to live in that space – of complete and total acceptance of the Self and of others.
